The global village before the global village: the Ebstorf Map, made in the 13th century, is the largest known medieval map of the world (or mappamundi). The original has been lost during a WW2 raid in 1943. Jerusalem is at the centre, Europe at the bottom, Asia at the top, Africa to the right.
